Hello Group!

Has anyone gone on a long, multi-day trip with their their mount? I
have a GM-8 and Gemini with a 4" refractor. I have a Pelican case for
the mount head and electronics and a hard golf travel case for the
OTA.

We also have a 2-year old, a large (80-pound) dog and assorted
luggage to fit into our Toyota Highlander (the Toyota version of the
Lexus RX-300 SUV). It's not all going to fit.

Any suggestions? I am considering a Thule roof mounted carrier.

Yeah, ditch the 2 year old and the 80 lb. dog. That should give you room enough for the really important things.

I'm kidding, of course. Maybe you could use a roof-top carrier (the enclosed variety) or find a way to tie down your mount and or tripod to the roof rack?

CAM baby

Come on, a highlander? and your worried about if all the stuff is going to fit?
My wife and I went to Stellafane in a Jeep Cherokee jammed to the gills with luggage, fork mount and a C-8 without any case for the scope(we live in MI)....MAKE IT FIT! I would never ever carry my telescope outside the vehicle(plus my wife looked so cute in her rocking chair ontop of the luggage rack)All joking aside, I think if you pack carefully , providing your not a pack ratt, you should be able to do it
Good luck
