Unscrew the bottom of the 14mm Meade UWA

I nnscrewed the bottom part(the barlow lens) of the 14mm UWA last night. It became a 2inch only eyepiece. The focal lens changed to near 30mm and the field of view was still huge. The eye relief became a lot more tight and the distortion at the edge was pretty bad. But it still works as a pretty good low power wide angle eyepiece. Anybody tried this before?
