Anybody out there have first hand experience with small (~5") video monitors to use for focus/composition with video camera's/digital camera's to use at the telescope? I have seen the versions sold in Circuit City, etc, that are for the gamer's, for 99.00. They are LCD color and claim to be high resolution. Any recommendations?

Walter,

I know you are trying to keep your screen small. However, Toshiba makes an excellent CCTV monitor that is used in conjunction with security cameras. It has 800 lines of resolution which is a far higher image quality then you will ever get with a small LCD screen. They make one model in 10" and it runs about $140 on the internet.

Just a suggestion.

Anybody use one of those for find/focus? They are as cheap as $30 at Circuit city etc. They can powered from 12v and have a video input.

FWIW, I am currently using the lcd on my camcorder and it doesn't work well on stellar objects
