What is normal declination performance on Meade ET

I am a total newbie and just took delivery of my first scope, a used ETX 90 that I bought on Ebay. In checking it out, I find that when the barrel is parallel to the ground, with declination lock off, the declination knobs will lower the scope but will not raise it. Is this normal or is something broken on this scope? Appreciate your help.

Hi Terry,

That is normal. The clamp must engage. It works 'downward' as gravity reduces the need for grip of the clamp.
