2" Zoom

I'd like to see a major eyepiece manufacturer offer a 2" zoom eyepiece with a decent range of focal length and field of view.

Yes, they have limitations with the design, but a good performing zoom would be a real workhorse for our observing.

Any comments??

Thanks,
John

John,

I like the idea. Another thought might be to get some kind of a zoom parfocal barlow, that goes from about 1.2X to 2.5X. So with a 2" zoom barlow you can preserve the high end wide field performance of an existing ep, but get an adjustable power range as well.

Denkmeir has a power switching diagonal also.

Orion used to sell a 1.25" adustable barlow, but I have never seen one used.

Gary Russell made them a few years back. Every once in a while they come up for sale. There was one on that other site a few months back.

Gary has made lots of custom things for me over the years - wouldn't be surprised if he would make one up if you asked.
