22 vs 24 Pan for XT-10

I am getting significant coma at the outer 70% FOV with my 22mm Panoptic on my F4.7 XT-10 . Otherwise the view is simply stunning with tack sharp brilliant stars at the center. I have read that the new 24mm Pan is much better corrected at the edges for a fast scope like mine. To those of you that have tried both, which do you prefer?

Thanks!

I now have the 24mm Pan and use it in a f/4.3 and it is better corrected, but still not perfect in this fast of a scope. In the f/6 it is near perfect.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the comments. I'm trying to get by without a Parracor. I don't expect pinpoints at the field stop, but maybe slightly better performance than I'm getting with the 22mm Pan. I just ordered a 24 Pan from Anacortes- I'll report back!

The 22 LVW you sold me works great on my xt8 f/6! Wanna swap scopes too? That way, maybe the 22 LVW will work better with the f/4.7 XT10 and your 22 Pan will work better with the f/6 XT8 smile

I am very happy to report that the off axis performance of the 24mm Pan is much better than the 22mm. It seems like a different eyepiece altogether. I start to see coma at about 90-95% out from the center. This is a vast improvement, and don't feel the need for a Paracorr at all. I can definitely live with this view. Also, the apparent field seems to be much wider than 68 degrees; more like 70-75 degrees. I have to look "around the corner"- just like a Nagler to take in the whole field. It gives me the "spacewalk" effect I didn't get before too. I highly recommend the 24mm Panoptic for F4.7 scopes.

Thanks All
Alan
