31mm Nagler - Is it really worth it?

I have heard much hype about the Nagler 31mm handgrenade. I have a lighter weight University Optics 32mm widescan that has an 82 degree field of view. Yes, the star images do distort some at the edge, and the difference is more pronounced in scopes shorter than f5. The UO eyepiece costs less than half the price of the Nagler.
What do you think, is the Nagler worth the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$?
$630 is a lot of money for one eyepiece. :S

The 31mm Nagler certainly does deliver the goods but it is just a tad too expensive (and heavy) for my tastes.

Yes! It is without doubt the finest eyepiece ever made! I use it with a C-14 and an NP101 and it is nothing short of breathtaking...Ken

I owned and really loved the 31T5. It performed exceptionally, particularly for such a long focal length.

But with an f4.5 scope your exit pupil is 6.9mm, so you're effectively stopping down your aperture. My not matter to most, but food for thought.

Take care,
