Hi All -

I recently purchased a 4" f/5 refractor for wide field viewing. Could someone recommend a decent wide field eyepiece for under $100?

Thank You - Steve

Hi:

With your F5 scope you will not want anything over 35mm as the exit pupil will exceed 7mm. I think 25mm to 30mm would be wiser.

I have tried some of the inexpensive 2 inch widefield eyepieces in several F5 scopes as well as a 100mmF6 Achromat. These include the BW-Optik 30mm 80 degree (Rpd-1), the GTO 31mm Proxima, the GSO Superview 41mm as well as Antares Erfle and some UO 1.25 inch Konigs.

In my experience, these eyepieces are pretty rough in an F5 scope, I am not sure that there is a 2 inch Widefield under $100 that does the job in an F5 scope.
