Help me choose my DSO filters

I've had a great help from the pro's on this forum in deciding, for my 12" truss Dob, which EP set to buy which I already started ordering (N31mm, E17mm, E10mm and 2" x2 Powermate - later on the ParaCorr and maybe the E13mm and another Future Ethos in the 22mm/24mm range)

Now the filters. I'm going to "skirt" all my Ethos with a "2 tube so that I only use 2" filters. I read an extraordinary review on "the other forum" about filters for DSO.
What clearly comes out is that the UHC filters are best for about 60% on various nebulas. The OxigenIII are a close runner up.
The OxigenIII are best on the other 40%. The UHC are a close runner up.
But in the meantime I'm no sure what to to buy for dim galaxies.

So here are my 4 questions for the Pro's:

1 - Is it useful to buy both OxigenIII and UHC filters or is it a waste of money and I should just buy one? If so which one?
2 - Which other filter shoud I buy for dim galaxies? A broadband filter or another?
3 - What is the Difference between UHC, UHC-e and UHC-s and why are their prices so different? Which UHC between these different types is best?
4 - Why do the Baader filters have such a better price than Astronomik and Lumicon?

Thanks in advance for your precious help. I know your insights will help me save a lot of time and money. (the latter being extremely important since I'm currently unemployed)

cheers

If I had to choose between an UHC and an 0111, I'd definitely go for the 0111 with the latter being better under most circumstances.
Although a galaxy filter exists, forget it for most dim galaxies, along with just about any other filter you'd care to name.
Baader filters are just fine although they can be out-performed by the Lumicon brand in my experience.

I would get the OIII first, the UHC second, the Baader "moonglow" third, and a hydrogen beta sometime or other.

This article by David Knisely is one of the best:

Actually IMHO the UHC works on *more* objects whereas the OIII steals the show by giving a better view on some absolutely spectacular objects such as the Veil.

The Baader Neodymium "moonglow" filter is the only planet filter I've used that really and truly improves the view, particularly on Jupiter and Mars. It can be purchased from AP and is inexpensive.

Ol' timers will say the old lumicons are best (I am fortunate to have one of those) but I haven't tested enough. Anyhow there are differences among the leading brands and I would stick with Lumicon, though I have an Astronomik UHC (if memory serves).

Probably one of my most satisfying views with a filter is not the horsehead in H Beta but the California Nebula in my FS128. Really nice.

Filter ownership tips:

1. make sure the filters fit your eyepieces, Meade filters often do not
2. Be wary of filter arrangements where dropping a long eyepiece in breaks the filter
3. Two inch filters are really nice for SCTs and refractors because you put them on the diagonal and then you can use any eyepiece for a filtered view. With a Dob you either have to get 1.25" and 2" format filters (to cover all bases) or alternatively get a filter wheel.
