How to remove smoke odor from EP?

How do you remove cigarette smoke odor from a used ep?

I tried alcohol but some residual odor remains.

This is a ep destined for child-friendly, public observing nights, and completes a hard-to-find bino pair.

Thanks

Was the eyepiece kept in an ashtray? How much residual smell could there be? Maybe if you stored it for awhile with an equally strong but sweeter smelling material.
Or better yet send it to my house for a couple years until the stench wears off! grin

I have had the same problem with smoke smell in Rubber and treated them with "ArmorAll" (car stuff)and it helps to kill the smell and make it more pliable. After two or three treatments about a week apart, the smell was almost totally gone.

I think a good long bath in heavily ionized air is the commercial solution to smoke smell removal.
