Does anyone have any comments on the new Baader Hyperion 24mm? For simplicity and cost, I'm thinking of selling my 2" GSO 30mm and sticking with 1.25"(I recently ordered the TeleVue 2x 1.25" barlow, 1.25" DGM NPB, and getting a 1.25" variable polarizer, so all my ep's/filters will be interchangeable. The 2" GSO 30mm is 68 deg, same as Hyperion, my guess is they'll be about the same while viewing? I've came to conclude 2" ep's excel in longer focal legnths and wider than 30mm 68 deg? xt10i

Not at all the same. The 24mm will give more magnification so you will see a smaller portion of the sky in one view, about 20% less.
In the 1.25" size, the widest field you can see is from a 32mm 50 degree eyepiece which will be about the same as the 24mm Hyperion at 68 degrees. The portion of the sky observed is the same, the 24mm just gives a more magnified view. Unfortunately, if you want low power wide field views, you need 2" eyepieces.
hope this helps,

Specifically for your XT10i, the central 60+% or so will be sharp, rest then has progressive coma, then slight astigmatism at around 85% mark, then minor CA at 90-95% mark. If you center the Perseus Double in the fov, the hearts of each cluster are still sharp. Dimmer clusters like M39 look sharp all around. Brighter clusters like Pleiades the lack of coma correction is obvious. If you have a Paracorr, then should perform exceptionally well out to about 90% mark I would guesstimate.
As others have said, for $99 excellent price/performance, but don't expect the edge correction that a Pan has as Hyperion has chosen to have little or no rectilinear distortion in this design. So a consequence of showing no barrel or pincushion aberrations, is other aberrations pop up instead...like field curvature and some astigmatism in last 10% or so.
Contrast and transmission are simply outstanding. I experience no blackouts or eye placement sensitivity with it and find I prefer viewing with the eyecup folded down.
I'd put it's performance on par with the older TV 24mm Wide Field as far as correction....better contrast and transmission than the older TV 24 though. I have both of these EPs.
