Pentax 10.5 XL barrel

I have a Pentax 10.5 XL. It has a 1.25" barrel, but the main body is larger. I had always assumed it was 2", although I never measured it or tried to use in a 2" focuser. Last night I visited a friend with a 22" DOB and discovered the main body is definitely NOT 2"!! It's more like 1.75"

WHY would Pentax design the eyepiece like that??

(OK, I know that's a rhetorical question, but I needed to vent!)

Hi David,
Well, it was never meant to be a 2", it is a 1.25" as there is no advantage to 2" at the focal length. You can add a sleeve and make it a 2" though. I have done this.
