If this is the ad I remember seeing, he was touting it as somewhat of a collectors item as it is no longer being manufactured. Maybe he is trying to get the escalation started. shocked

I suspect he will be putting that one back in his eyepiece case at that price, but who knows, there may be someone out there dieing to own one of these.

Right. It's not uncommon for a newbie to come in with expectations that haven't been calibrated to the market. Your expectations are more realistic. Personally, I prefer the newbies who ask for too little, but they come in both varieties.

Let the free market speak. More than once I have seen the same eyepiece for sale here. The higher priced one stays while the lesser priced one sells. It reminds me of people who list on another site and say their items are "rare". Many times I know the items are easily bought so I questioned one seller. The person said that the item was "rare" to them, a bogus use of the term to me. The old saying "buyer beware" applies.
