I thought to share with you me roll-off observatory experience.
The observatory is located in Israel and it is about 320cmX250cm in size. The roof is made from 2 aluminum layers and an isolated material in between.
The roof is currently opend by hand-not a hard job, and moves on an 'C' type track which secured by wheels from the sides so it can't move to the sides or up at all.
It is very isolated and the temperature inside the observatory is kept almost identically.The structure is remarkably solid.
