Weird subject. :-)

Anyway, we just moved into a new house. The light pollution really isn't that bad. There are no street lights around for a few blocks!!

Unfortunately, our neighbors across the street are on a slight hill which puts their front porch a little higher than my head (above sea level).

I thought about building a light shield out of PVC but it would literally have to be 15-20' tall. Which would be a huge windsail. I could anchor it to my metal fence though.

Any suggestions other than asking them to turn it off? Sometimes I go out really late and don't want to bother them at night.

Thanks!

A polite introduction from the new neighbor might be a good start then over the next few weeks try to get to know them. In a few weeks time, find the right time to ask them over for a few looks in your telescope but politely ask them to turn off the porch light on the way over. During the evening mention that you have noticed that they leave the porch light on and ask if they would mind turning it off on the evenings you plan to be out.
Just a thought
