I'm looking to de-fork my old 12" SCT and remount it on an EQ. Total weight with guidescopes and camera is 46-50 lbs.
These two mounts are in my budget and available:
http://sieravision.com/products/Losmandy-G%252d11-GFT-Motorized-EQ-GoTo-Mount-with-Tripod.html
http://sieravision.com/products/Celestron-CGX%252dL-GoTo-EQ-Mount-with-Tripod.html
The choice seems obvious, with the CGX-L having a 15-lb higher capacity rating for only a hundred or so more $. I don't care much about pointing accuracy, object database, or the quality of the tripod, since I'm going to pier mount it and use a different planetarium program.
Am I on-target with going for the higher payload mount, or is there a significant quality difference in the Losmandy stability or engineering or tracking that alters the equation? Anyone with experience in these mounts: I welcome your advice and input.
TIA
Steve
