Let's assume that I have done a spectacular job of polar alignment with the SVP mount.
Also. let's assume the scope is perfectly balanced in the mount.

With the RA drive that comes as an accesory to this mount, How long will it track correctly? ( stars ).

The longest exposure I have been able to take is about 2 minutes.
After that, there is obvious tracking error.

Over 3 minutes, and there seems to be little "jump"... maybe gear mesh?

I am aware this isn't a top of the line mount, and tracking setup.. but was hoping for 5 minute exposures, maybe a little more...

Is 2 minutes all I can realistically expect from this mount/drive?

Thanks,
Bruce G

Bruce, the 2 minutes is probably about it, without some work on it to try to improve Periodic Error and other things.
Perfectly balanced is not the good thing, it should be a little heavy east to avoid it rocking with each movement.
