Occasionally, a Meade LXD650 becomes available used. Although most comments I've read say it's very solid, I've read mixed reviews about it's tracking errors, periodic or ramdom. Can anyone comment about the amount of periodic or ramdom errors these mount have, both before and after any PEC training?

Hi Mark,
I have not measured the error as I have only used it for visual work so far, but I do intend to use it for photography.
I can tell you that they are solid and track well with very accurate Go-To.
The bug thing is that Meade is not consistent with their work and some have not be adjusted correctly for proper worm mesh and such. I had to work on mine a bit before I found the source of all the play in the RA. But after a bit of adjustment, both axis seem to be quite solid and work well.
There are a number of pictures taken on a LXD650 that seem to show that they are capable of doing the job.
