Hi Everyone -

I just purchased a 4" wide field refractor and I need a mount for it. I'm relatively new to this and I don't want to have to take out a second mortgage to purchase this mount. The scope will be used, primarily, for visual observing.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Steve,

Any of the CG5 mounts from various sources will be more than adequate, I've owned the Orion SVP and used it successfully with 4" f9 and 4" f6.5 refractors. Another more expensive mount but great choice would be a Celestron ASGT, they're very stable for their size and the GOTO works extremely well.

Hope This Helps,

Steve

The GEM that the other Steve suggested is one way to do it, check this out Classified #378488, however another way is to get and Alt-Az type mount. The Helix Alt-Az mount head on a used medium or heavy duty photo tripod would also work. The Televue Panoramic or Gibraltar mount is another excellent but a bit more expensive route. There are many Mfg's and ways to do this type mount.
Hope this helps
