Blow dryers, cold air, & primary mirror

Hello,

This may sound like the stupidest question, but would there be a problem with taking a blow dryer, placing on low, cool air, and using it to blow fine dust off of the primary mirror?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,
I have done this myself and found no downside to it. It will not remove dust that is stuck to the mirror, but it does remove a lot of the dust. Get it close, but don't touch the surface. I have been toying with making an extension for my hair drier that is squeezed into a slit to improve the velocity of the air coming out. I think this would help in the removal of the dust.
