Or is it a Hilt'sonian!!

This is a wooden scope made for a niece and nephew as a Christmas present. It has a surplus shed 100/600 lens and a 50 mm elliptical secondary.
It is supposed to be like an Astroscan on legs, hence the red. It is a bit more user friendly than my earlier prototype( a 127/830)

The lens is OK but not spectacular, however in the 20-100 power range it is fine.

Best wishes

Kevin Barker

Kevin:

That's a real cutie... Love the Edmunds paint scheme.. 100mm F/6 is a pretty nice place to be for low mags.

Thanks Jon
I had some old red oil based paint lying around.

the white is to prevent folks walking into it.

That has happened to me before at a star party

Great job! The color scheme is nicely done and the handles top and bottom are a nice touch. Perfect for the youngsters. I am sure they will love it.

I also have one of the SS 100m/f6 lenses in a scope. I agree with your assessment. It is very useable but begins to fade quickly at higher powers. A 9mm was about the highest I could ever use.
