Cracking apart an 8 inch lens - Countdown to first

The old timers of this forum should remember my worrying title from a year or so ago when I had to separate the 3 elements of an old Cooke, Troughton & Simms 8 inch lens that had been balamed together. Well, after a very long xylene bath the elements were eventually separated and this old photo-visual triplet is nearing completion. Please see attached picture. The tube is from an old 12 inch revelation reflector. I will keep you all posted when first light occurs, sometime over Christmas.

Wow, what a project! These old objectives accomplished so much (sky surveys, found Pluto, etc.) and you're keeping a piece of that history alive.

Have you noticed any clouding on an element? I'd read that was a common problem in some climates because one of the glass types couldn't tolerate high humidity.
