On Monday I received my ED100. After owning an ED80 I was anxious
to check this new 100mm APO out. I've owned several upscale 4" APOs
but for various reasons sold them. Now I wanted another and the
price was good.
Orion really needs to check these scopes out before shipping. My
scope had the lens cell cross-threaded......really. After removing
and checking the threads, I cleaned the tube and reinstalled the
cell. The focuser needed tweeking so I took my time and tuned the
whole thing. All functions are so good that I'm NOT going to invest
$300 for a Moonlight unit.
I had a few gaps in the clouds tonight so I set up the scope for a
quick check. It performs great. Excellent star test and Saturn
looked very good. I'm impressed.
