I'm just starting to plan a first homemade scope project, a truss dob. Debating on what size I can get away with, if I want to be able to transport it. I guess weight is the biggest issue- I'm a small gal! Any input as to what size is feasible for me? I've also looked at some of the scope making kits- are they worth it over doing it all from scratch, if you've no experience and have no previously developed carpentry skills?

Hi Mary -

I don't think there is so much a difference in weight if you are making a truss dob. If you were making a tube dob, there would be a more significant difference.

The kits might be a good idea if you have no carpentry skills.
