How do you apply glue and apply velvet to a long tube. The tube is 64 inches long and 9 inches diameter.

Easier to apply the glue to the backside of the flocking paper rather than the tube. Then you can insert the paper in longish pieces, use a long broom handle to roll-press the paper against the tube's interior wall. If its sonotube, some well-place screws penetrating in from the outside can make useful mounting points to punch the paper through to make it stay put as well.

Hello Steven,
For my 50", 9ΒΌ" diam tube, I rolled around a broom stick (just the stick) a 50" by 30" length of felt material. I used Elmer's Spray Adhesive. Spray a 6" wide section the length of the tube and start by carefully applying the edge of the material. If you're extra carefull here to start "square" it will be easier later on when you'll unfurl the rest of the material. Continue this way, spray 6" wide, then unroll a bit of material. When you get at your starting point let if overlap the material. Use a sharp utility knife, Exacto, your favorite hunting/fishing knife and a straight edge and cut where the material overlaps. Just peel off the remaining strip between the ending edge of the material and your cut.

Here is what I did, and I have done it twice now (different scope the second time). It works well enough that I wouldn't change anything if I was to do it again.
I wrote this quite some time back. The links are too long to post. search for message #111638 & #111639.
