Spiders

I notice that all of the Orion reflectors with four vane spiders have the focuser in line with a spider vane as opposed to in between as I usually see on others. Is there any significance to the relation to the this placement?

Maybe if you prefer to see + instead of x in your diffraction spike pattern? :-)

Someone once told me that it can make a differnenc if you plan to use an off-axis aperture mask at some time. The best place to position the "hole" is at the bottom of the mirror since the thermal plumes of warm air rise vertically upward. Good luck and clear skies.
