What is the garbage on my primary?

Everything went well when I cleaned my mirror yesterday. Mounted it in the scope, collimated, put the covers on and went to bed. This afternoon I looked in the scope at the primary and noticed it is full of some type of spots, like water got on the primary and dried but this is not possible. Anyone have this happen to them? I also state the mirror was not like that when I put it back into the scope. It was clean.

What kind of primary coatings?
How many spots and are the equally distributed?
Was the mirror inside or outside all night?
What was used to clean the mirror?
Could these spots be from pinholes in the overcoat where the aluminum was effected by the cleaning or chemicals uses such as alcohol?
Could they be spot left by dew forming overnight?
These are all questions that need answers before answers can be offered to the problem. smile

John,
Since most amateurs only (and correctly) clean their mirrors on an occasional basis, it's possible you may have not seen the water spots that could have formed on the mirror as it dried. Later, while peering down at it from a different angle, the spots have become more visible to you.
I think you may have to re-clean the mirror. I hope it's not a case of over-aggressive cleaning and damage to the coatings.
I took my dob to my usual observing site at Mt Pinos, Ca back in June. I had just cleaned the primary but the following morning it was covered with yellow spots! As it turned-out, the pine trees were pollinating like crazy! I mean they were really going at it! It was like an orgy up there and there were dust explosions everywhere! You would'nt believe the sh*t that got on my mirror!
Stuff happens...
