Have a 25 yr old coulter mirror and diag that always looks dusty even after very gentle soapy water and alcohol rinse. a direct flashlight beam on it shows a myriad of tiny whitish spots. Hate the bother of packing it off. Is there a better criterion of how bad a mirror has become?
When to resilver (aluminize) an old mirror ?

John,
If you can see degradation in the coatings then they are bad. Sounds like it is suffering from corrosion where there were small perforations in the overcoat. It is not too expensive to have them re coated and it would make a nice difference when it is done.
