FOG

Just as my new found interest in the stars is peaking, I am reminded about coastal fog. I always appreciated it as natural air conditioning and now I loath it. I think I will move from north of the San Francisco Bay area to Nevada!

No fog tonight - well, it is forming now - but I finally got to see Jupiter again and found Andromeda for the first time by star hopping. I know these are bright objects and you might not be impressed, but it was thrilling for me.

Just wanted to say I read all the stuff on your experience and wanted to thank you for posting it. I'm in the same boat. Just started all this a few months ago.

I'm about to spend a few nights next weeks at a really dark site (Bortle 1) at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro with some kids from the school where I work. We'll be camping. They say you can see several Messier objects with the naked eye at such sites -- on a good night.
