Just ordered Orion Xt8

Hi all,

Based on me lurking here, I decided to purchase an Orion Skyquest XT8 Classic telescope for my son's Xmas present (and secretly for me!). I ordered a Telrad to go with it and the book "Turn Left at Orion".

I intend to spend many a (cold) night with him exploring the skies here in NW NJ.

Please re-assure me that I made the right decision.

BTW, we just joined the local astronomy club.

Excellent choice! I've had mine for a year and still love it (with a few minor mods). Just remember, when you put together the base, listen to the manual and keep that nut holding the bottom REALLY LOOSE. Otherwise your alzimuth motions will be stiff and jerky...
