Has anyone taken a Nexstar 5 on an airplane? I'm trying to find as large a scope as practical for travel.

The Nexstar 5 OTA itself is rather compact and certainly is airline transportable. The mount is a different question...
If you are looking at the largest carry on scope, there are 8 inch DOBs that disassemble and are carry on.
