Re: one eyepiece

the eyepieces that came with the scope(which was used) are
celestron 40mm plossl
orion lantham 25mm 14mm 9.5mm
also orion shorty-plus 2x

to describe them collectively...dirty...small fov.....edges are awfull.

dont get me wrong some things dont seem very noticable in this scope, not like viewing is horrible.

but overall i have the feeling they stink.

I have had the EPs that you own and yes they lack in many respects.
The Lanthanum EPs are lacking in contrast and are a bit dull. The Celestron EP is just an average plossl.
It sounds like you want more field of view. This is possible for an SCT as they are forgiving of eyepieces. You can buy a lessor quality and still get pretty good edge performance. However, if you use these EPs in fast scopes they too will be found lacking.
For wider fields I would suggest several possibilities. You say "GOOD" so I will stay with that quality.
First, the Meade 4000 UWA 6.7mm, 8.8mm and 14mm. These are no longer made, but can be found for a good price here used.
Televue Panoptics 27mm, 24mm, 19mm are all nice and work well in SCTs. The cost is less than the next type.
Televue Naglers, 26mm, 20mm 17mm, 12mm, 9mm and 7mm are all very nice and would work for your scope, but the cost is very high for each.
Pentax XL 10.5mm, 7mm, 5.2mm are great with 65° FOV and great images with adjustable eye cup.
These EP are all good and deliver great performance in any scope, not just slow ones.
I have some of each of these and find them to be keepers.
But, they are not $50 each! But unfortunately there are no $50 good wide field EPs.
Now one other set of EPs for $150 each that I would add would be Siebert Ultra EPs in a full range of sizes. They offer 20mm Eye relief and 70° FOV. These are pretty good EPs and carry a 30 day trial money back guarantee so if you don't like them, just return them for refund.
This is not a list of all EPs for sale and some will disagree with my choices I am sure, but I feel that these are worthy of your scope and would fit your needs well.
