Hi all, I’ve been observing comet Machholz since early this month and have to say that it’s getting quite a bit brighter. If I remember right the predicted brightest magnitude of this comet is around 3.1. Has anyone else been keeping an eye on this comet? How about any other comets?

The 24th it was quite bright and large, but I could not see the tail. The Moon was full and that did not help.

Hello David -
I'm with you !!Been watching Machholz with my bino, 4" Refractor, and 12" Schmidt. Future Comets? C/2003 K4 (LINEAR) 8 Mag, and C/2004 V13 (SWAN) 9 Mag will be visible in the Northern Hemisphere. There are several other comets in the 10-12 mag for the bigger scopes. Gota give a "thumbs up" for the amateurs! Keep looking - Bradfield and Machholz !!!!!!!!!!!!!
