With parts of the US plunged into a black out last night, I'm somewhat curious to find out about observing conditions in the local areas. In other words…how was it?

I live in Toledo, Ohio...where my power wnet out for 1 hour. Reports said that half of my city was without power. I went outside to observe with my 10" dob, not epecting the Milky Way, but some nice stars. IT WAS BRIGHTER THAN USUAL! My object last night was M71, a glob in Saggita. Usually Sagitta is a little aterism of stars, barely noticable unless loking for it. I couldn't ever make out the neck end of Cygnus. I wished that this would've happened in the dead of night.

P.S. Any reports of how the stars were in NYC? I'm not sure if the power got turned back by night?

I live in a suburb 13 miles west of Cleveland. Around 10p.m. Thursday, the Milky Way was clearly visible, especially in Cygnus. Incredible!
