Dark Skies

Can anybody out there offer his or her opinion on this? I'm looking for the darkest skies in New York. I live on Long Island.
I've viewed from several different locations here but really haven't found any truly dark sites except for Montauk.
I have also viewed from Albany and Lake George and found the skies waning as well.

I have just moved to Lewisburg PA and am amazed at the skies. They remind me of a visit I once made to LA. Very brown!! :-( Is this amount of murk normal from this region or are there some bushfires around throwing a lot of smoke into the atmosphere?

I thought that central PA had some dark skies but this is really bad.
