A perfect example of one of the more frustrating things about the forums. Currently when I go into the forum I most participate in the new post status says there are 12 new messages. Yet when I actually go in an open the forum there are only 5 new posts to be found that actually have NEW beside them. Usually its not quite this blatantly inaccurate but is consistently inaccurate particularly regarding hot topics.
That combined with the inaccurate tracking of previously read posts ie they don't stay greyed out once read making it hard to keep your place in a conversation spread over multiple days and topics that get several pages long combined with the system not keeping the NEW flag between visits does make participating in the forums very frustrating at times.
