I would like to know everyone's opinion about the curent lawsuit between that Hawaiian group and NASA. For those who aren't familiar, these guys are up in arms on account of NASA's plans to add several outrigger telescopes for the Keck interferomiter. Claiming that NASA needs to release an invironmental impact statement.

What I find irksome about this is that this self same group approved NASA's proposal a few years back. They even found the lesser invironmental statement was sufficent. Suddenly, however, they changed their mind!

"Though parted by a gulf more impassable than any sea, the telescope lets us traverse what otherwise had been barred and lands us at last above the shores we went forth to seek. Real the journey is, though incorporeal in kind. Since the seeing strange sights is the essence of all far wanderings, it is as truly tavel so the eye arrive as if the body kept it company." I think I remember reading it has something to do with not wanting to disturb ancestral burial sites that are scattered thoughout the vicinity of the new building sites.
