I recently sold something of mine in which I received a Money Order. However the money order had my mailing address on it and not my living address. In order to cash in a money order I need to show a picture id and a address most likely the same address. Is there anyway around this? It was a $30 MO.

Wow it is possible to deposit the Postal Money Order in the bank account? I thought only the post office could cash the money. Also my address in the bank account is different than the address on the money order. Can I just endorse the Money Order to a friend or family member living at the address and get the money from them?

I find this thread interesting as I mostly pay for Astromart purchases with a money order. It's perhaps a little different for me as I live in Canada and often I am dealing with a seller in the USA.
One thing has come clear to me...the postal system here is much more customer oriented and efficient than in the USA (They were told to become lean and mean and pay for themselves and they are hustling for customers and busisness - imagine that!).
However, I have a question for you folks in the USA...
Would you prefer to receive a money order from the post office, or a bank?
