complete Sky images

I was wondering if anyone has tried to mosaic together a complete Northern or Southern Hemisphere sky using low magnification. (note: complete novice here but trying to catch up!) Thought it would be a good project to learn the sky. Set up my low power telescope and take pictures and put them together in a photo editing software? Anyone?
