Good service by USPS

Tuesday(3-23), I mailed (from Alexandria LA) a small(6x9)bubble envelope with some vac-packed beef jerky from a local meat market, to my son up in Boston. The weight was 10.2 ounces and it cost me $2.92 parcel post. He received it yesterday(3-25), so three days to get from LA to MA is not too bad.

LA to MA in three days is quite good but a week or two back I purchased an eyepiece and it was shipped from LA to SD in a single day. Of course that wasn't from Louisiana to South Dakota, it was Los Angeles to San Diego. 8)


I find the USPS to be a good choice for smaller packages and sometimes for larger packages. Earlier this year I needed to ship a scope to Iceland and was able to ship a 12" x 12" x 27" box via USPS Air to Iceland for about $60, I thought that was very reasonable. I think the scope spent more time in customs than on the plane.
