The recent news story of a mile long UFO (mile long weather phenomena most likely) reminds me of two more reasons for believing flying saucers don't exist:

The folks that track space debris down to orbiting nuts and bolts.

NORAD.

Thought #1: Of course, since we stole our stealth technology from a crashed UFO, NORAD might not be able to see a UFO. wink

Thought #2: If you need faster than light travel to get around via UFO, maybe the UFO plays some strange tricks with space and time and the nature of existence. shocked

Thought #3: You're probably right, but no reason to be a party pooper. wink

Say any word on Bigfoot lately? www.bigfootresearch.com. grin

Stanton Friedman was on George Noory Coast to Coast radio the other night talking about the 60th aniversary of Roswell and his new book. He referred to those "noisy negativists" or some-such as people who have made up their minds and won't believe regardless of the evidence.

Well I am a skeptic, but only because I see no convincing evidence. Trust me, I really would like to see some convincing evidence. But we should be suspicious of feelings-based belief rather than the facts. True believers like Friedman don't seem to understand there are a lot of us who would like nothing more than to find scientific proof we have been visited, but that until that day, we remain skeptics.

Have to tell you my UFO story.....1994. There were forest fires all over eastern Washington. After working three weeks on fires I got several days off. One night the local observing group went out to a ridge outside of town to observe. The night was partly cloudy and we were waiting for the clouds to move on.

So we opened a beer and sat talking in the dark. Looking towards town I saw a faint, saucer shaped object traveling over town. No lights on...just the glow from town illuminating the object. I turned to the guy next to me and said " I hope you didn't see that". His response was "I was thinking the same thing".

Fortunately, we were staging firefighters out of the former airbase at Moses Lake. So Monday morning at work I asked the guy that worked Moses Lake that weekend if anything was going that weekend. Yep, he said the military was having war games even had those F117A fighters there. You know they look kinda oblong when they are flying.

If it wasn't for that I'm not sure what I would have been thinking.

Thank god he was there...otherwise I would have never had an explanation for what we saw.

The only reason UFOs, Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and other myths persist is that scientists do an insufficient job of researching them and communicating their results to the general public.
