Hi everyone,

Over the past 12 months I have been rescanning all of my old astronomical photographs (going back over 30 years! 8O) and updating my website. If you are interested in photographs of the southern sky then goto http://www.facstaff.bucknell.edu/mclark/ Just be warned, there are a lot of photos!

I have also added some photographs of the Venus transit and comet 2001q4 NEAT. As yet I have not started to redo the CCD images. That will be the big job for the next 12 months! sad Once that is done, I hope to start adding pages of my asteroid light curves and other university research, and information on astrophotography and image scanning and processing.

Enjoy,

Maurice

Maurice…

Nice website. From your picture, I would have guessed you to be about 25 yrs old…so how did you accumulate 30 yrs worth of photos??? I guess all those clouds in Minnesota and Pennsylvania have stopped the aging process. Out here in Fresno, CA, it's been pretty much clear since March. (Sorry, I just had to brag.)

Sounds like a big job so far and a big job still to go. That's the curse of photography. However, I have found a solution. Over the past 25 years or so I have taken at least 7000 35-mm slides and perhaps another 3000 shots on print film (my astro shots number less than 200 of this total). My solution: don't take very many good photos. Then you don't feel so bad that you haven't scanned them. :-)

Actually, I need to buy a slide scanner and start on a similar project. I figure about half the shots I want to keep.

A funny story about organizing many years worth of slides--when my father retired about ten years ago, his first big project was to organize 45 yrs of slides, probably about 8000 total. He spent the better part of six months on this effort. When he was done, he had my brother and me and our families over for dinner and a slide show. Imagine his embarassment when the very first tray he put in the projector contained random photos from his college days, our first house in Fresno, my senior prom, a trip to Hawaii, etc. all in random order. We still tease him about it, though my mom has forgiven him.
