Chicago?
A salary of $100,000 in Tallahassee, Florida should increase to $197,646 in Oak Brook, Illinois
A salary of $100,000 in Tallahassee, Florida should increase to $151,279 in Deerfield, Illinois

Seattle?
A salary of $100,000 in Tallahassee, Florida should increase to $153,429 in Redmond, Washington
A salary of $100,000 in Tallahassee, Florida should increase to $152,610 in Seattle, Washington

Are there more reasonably priced suburbs around these places? 8O You know with nice, gated, yuppie professional apartment complexes? I don't think that a salary offered in any of these places will adjust up to the levels required according to bestplaces.net.

By the way, in Memphis my salary could go down according to the comparison. This is because I could get a shotgun shack in a crime-ridden neighborhood for cheap. :S If you go out to any suburbs where you'd want to live, $100K needs to be $122K. It's very tricky looking at job postings in far away places.

Note: I don't actually make $100,000 in Tallahassee. If I did, they would probably print my salary in the newspaper so that rich retirees who live within a mile of the beach could whine about it.[/SIZE]

I have several telescopes, but none are semi-APO, APO, or in anyway valuable.

Try working for the state. They will whine about you making a salary at all.

Could be worse - you'd need a salary of $246,571.00 to break even if you move to Palo Alto CA.
