Wolves...

2 days ago my neighbor came over to make sure my wolves were still on our property, (they were) as he saw a wolf looking creature down the road on his way home. I have seen wild wolf cubs in the last couple of months locally. Are Mexican Grey Wolves making a comeback? I hope so, or maybe the Timbers have come south...My neighbor was a little freeked out as the animal he saw was easily in the 140# range, about where my male Timberwolf hybrid (Khan, about 145# these days) is. While my neighbor is not scared, we are both wondering what is going on....

It is what it is...

Tony, do local wild wolves pose possible hazard to your domesticated wolf hybrids?

Tony, The High Country News does regular coverage of all the wolf populations in the western states. You might be able to find some info on potential AZ populations from their website. They had a story on the movement of Idaho wolves into far northern Utah that was of interest to me given my locale. Lots of hiking with ears wide open and I still haven't seen or heard them. I'm hopeful though. Anyway, check out HCN's archives. They are a .org bunch, I think. I've read several HCN articles on NM wolves, so it's more likely your potential ones would be from that direction since the northern packs have yet to spread much farther south than northern UT. Can you tell the topic excites me? :-) Keep us posted.
