As someone who's been breathing this shit for the last three days I wish they'd try to do something about it. It stinks. The AQI yesterday was over 500. Maybe Trump can sell them some rakes.

Obviously, it's climate change that's causing it. Thanks to the GOP climate policies under Trump we're screwed.

Our Conservative Provincial Premier, the godawful Doug Ford, reduced Ontario's forest fire fighting budget last year by $200 000 000.

The sheer magnitude of the size and number of the fires in NW Ontario defies imagination.

"Do something about it?"  What exactly do you DO to prevent forest fires in tens of thousands of square miles of impenetrable, roadless boreal forest?   Access only by float plane or lengthy canoe trips.   The Ontario boreal forest is more than twice as big as the entire state of Michigan.  DO?   DO?

The summers up there are much drier now and noticeably warmer due to global warming.  Dry lightning strikes start the vast majority of these fires.   Then the winds blow the smoke wherever.

My pessimistic view, sadly, is that the forest fires will continue and become even more frequent over the years.  The new reality.

I was being facetious Dave. With the whole climate change denial it's the things that they aren't doing that I was implying. Nincompoops are running our governments. I fear this is just the beginning of something that can't be stopped at this point and it'll only get worse for my kids and grandchildren.
