It has been used almost as long to describe the influence of money in politics. Having been the target of Rich's ridiculous leaps where he uses the flimsiest of evidence to claim that people on this forum are anti-semites, I decided to weigh in, not to help Rod since he does not need my help, but instead to try and counter Rich's craziness and interject a little common sense. As you can imagine, it's gone steadily downhill from there.

And when you did so James it backfired on you, since it appears that you lied, I proved you lied about me, and now like the petulant, childish person that you are, you are irritated that you can't refute the facts I posted about you.

Then again in Typical James Lacey fashion, You have no rebuttal to the facts I posted about you, and instead are hoping that someone on your side of the aisle swoops in to save you from yourself.

I offered previously to deconstruct your assertions, and if you want me to provide more instances of your TDS inspired nonsense and bullshit about Trump and the right side of the political aisle, just let me know and I'll be happy to embarrass you once again.

I rather enjoy it.

And P.S. when you make a claim about interjecting some common sense into the discussion, you might want to bring some to the table, so that you can win the argument.  So far, you haven't.  Maybe you can buy some from your friend in Michigan?

Oh wait, I almost forgot, that may not work out so well for you, since he's never had any common sense to offer up....... in years and years.  smile

You're free to refute the facts James if there was an error I made.

Since you can't and since everything I said IS true, your last resort is mocking derision.

You have a chance to redeem yourself, but it appears you can't put up one bit of evidence to counter the facts I posted about you.

Should I check back to witness MORE failure from you James or did you wan't me to continue to debunk the rest of your lies?    smile

Rich, the truth is that your responses come off as arrogant certainty, which is often expected from an insecure wannabe know-it-all. You keep saying you’re dealing in facts, but what I'm seeing are just strong opinions wrapped in unwarranted certainty.

You claim I haven’t refuted anything, but I’ve responded to your points repeatedly. You refuse to consider that anyone else might have a valid perspective. Saying "I’m right and you’re not" over and over doesn’t prove anything except that you have an unnatural and unhealthy amount of certainty in your ability to be correct.

If your arguments were solid, you wouldn’t need to rely on taunts or keep fishing for confrontation. So if it makes you feel better to claim some win here, go ahead. Honestly, your arrogance speaks louder than anything else.

No, when I make assertions I can prove them.

You want to play semantic games James as to what you stated.

This is a fact.  You stated this:  Trump was going to institute tariffs on the Pharmaceutical industry which was going to destroy the economy and You implied that he was already destroying the economy.

You are free to refute the fact above but you would have to lie to do so.

I didn't tell you to make that claim and it doesn't matter Why you stated that, be it that You were simply regurgitating another lefty who told you so, or whether you came up with that analysis on your own.

The fact is that you made that prediction.  I called you out for saying it, and you claimed that I was putting words into your mouth, which I clearly proved that I wasn't, and that You stated it.

You never put qualifiers on your statements or assertions.  You never said well Trump might change the percentages of his tariffs which may not end up destroying the economy", You simply said that he was going to put tariffs in place on pharmaceuticals which were going to cause the costs of drugs to rise, which will destroy the economy.

You are proving yourself to be nothing more than an incorrect hysterical leftist who has been wrong about

It is now getting a little boring showing that you said what you claim you did not say.  I'm happy to do it, but I'm certain that others now realize that you're simply angry that I'm showing facts about Your statements.  smile

Your doomsday predictions about the economy are NOT coming to fruition.

Now then, lastly you claimed that there were reasons why the economy has not crashed as you falsely predicted that it would.

Your new mantra is that Trump decided not to raise the tariffs and therefore that is the reason that the economy is still ok.

Here's another fact.  Trump still has massive tariffs on Chinese goods, and since the vast majority of pharmaceuticals are made in China, then there should be massive increases in drug costs according to you.

Since there is not, what is your new excuse?  You are wrong again, so what you say holds no merit in fact whatsoever.    smile

It's called confidence James and I can back up my assertions.

If you think I'm wrong about something, state what You say I'm wrong about.

All you do is whine James.

And I'm not taunting you James.  Countering your lies James, mostly about the economy, isn't taunting you, it is called presenting my side of the argument.

You present yours.  You have and what you predicted hasn't happened.  Too bad for you.  smile

Not that I believe anything Rich asserts James or anything anybody says is remotely accurate, since I wouldn't want to lend credence to anything he says without scrutinizing it first even though it's generally a waste of time and effort given the source, I'll respond to this:   "Trump was going to institute tariffs on the Pharmaceutical industry which was going to destroy the economy and You implied that he was already destroying the economy."

"The U.S. economy shrank faster than previously thought during the first three months of 2025, with growth contracting for the first time in three years."

"The country's gross domestic product fell at an annual rate of 0.5% from January through March, the Commerce Department reported Thursday in its third and final GDP report for the period. The agency's initial first-quarter GDP report, issued in April, estimated a 0.3% decline, which was later revised to a 0.2% dip in its second print."

"First-quarter growth was weighed down by a surge of imports as U.S. companies and households rushed to buy foreign goods before the Trump administration's tariffs went into effect."

So, it's obvious, other than to Richie, that the tariffs have negatively impacted the economy and if the economy recovers, it's only because the tariffs are being delayed, significantly modified, or rescinded......

"US tomato prices could jump as soon as Monday"

"If tomato prices jump because of new tariffs on the Mexican-grown produce, restaurant owner Teresa Razo says her businesses could go bust."

“I give it three months, and then we go bankrupt,” said Teresa Razo, owner of two Argentine-Italian restaurants in Southern California."

"On July 14, a nearly three-decade-old US-Mexico trade agreement may give way to 20.9% tariffs on most Mexican tomato imports. That could mean higher prices for Americans at the grocery store, at the pizza parlor — anywhere that uses tomatoes. And for some small businesses, higher prices could close them down entirely."

I don't know why these shop owners don't take their advice from Davis...
