Hi all,

Just thought I would check back and see how everyone was doing in the forum. It looks like the question hasn't been resolved while I was away. How comforting to know that I haven't missed out on anything ground-breaking.

Here, I'll make this qualify as a religious post now. It’s time to start quoting some scripture. No, I'm only joking, let me paraphrase.

Assumption: Everyone has a soul.
Assumption: The soul exists in a separate but parallel dimension.

The soul of someone who doesn’t believe they have a soul will become neglected.

The soul of someone who is aware of a dimension outside of the typical 4 (or whatever the physical number is) in which the spirits reside will chose to enter the spiritual dimension with their own soul to explore (or be content to know of its existence but not pursue it any further).

From this experience come a plethora of religions and other such nonsense.

Corinthians 1:18 "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."

Ha, I managed to slip one in there. I guess I lied. Perish is such a harsh term. I prefer hell-fire enabled (not seriously).

Question: With elevinty billion different flavors how can I know which is the right one?

Luke 11:11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

Don’t worry; I’ve been on this forum before. First of all, I shouldn’t be quoting scripture when I said that I wouldn’t. Secondly, how can I answer the question of “which is the right one” by quoting a scripture from my own? That’s called circular reasoning, and it doesn’t prove anything.

Assumption: If you look (ask) for something good you aren’t going to find (receive) something bad.

That's all I've got for now. I know, you were probably waiting for me to get back with all the answers smile . Sorry.

Peace in Christ Jesus (from where I'm sitting),

Andrew

The facts might change, but my opinion won't change, no matter what the facts are.

Welcome back! 8)

Wow, Eric, Mike, you -- we've had quite a run of returns from long absences here. There's a few new faces, aside from that it's been more or less the same ol' stuff. smile

Knowing which is right, when all may be wrong, is not a reasonable goal. There is too little information, and too much misinformation from too many sources. What is reasonable is that one may endeavor to not be wrong, or at least as little wrong as possible.

The safest route, then, is some sort of vaguely deistic agnosticism. The subtle acknowledgement of the possibility of some higher power(s) allows one to trod a reasonable middle ground, being a socially-acceptable 'believer' of sorts, while not running the risk of worshipping false god(s) and thus angering the real one(s).
