I am trying to use a DSI to guide with the amazing F50 finderscope from stellarvue, however I cannot reach focus with the helical focuser when the DSI is attached. Has anyone tried this before? Im trying to avoid using an Orion shortube 80mm, cause im afraid itll max out my mount (LXD75 SN10). I have everything working great, but if i cant achieve focus on the F50M, im gonna have to try and modify the original meade craptastic finderscope (im looking to avoid this).

Meade LXD75
Meade SN-10
Stellarvue F50M

When I tried to do something like that I found that I did not have enough in focus.

I am using an Antares 9x50 finderscope. What I found with the Antares finder is that the diagonal was held in place with a set screw. I had a couple of cheap diagonals laying around, and salvaged the 1 1/4 pieces that would normally fit the focuser draw tube and attached them in a line. It is not pretty, but it works great. I set the focus for the DSI by sliding the draw tube into the finder body until the camera was in focus, then tightened the set screw holding that focus point. Since this finder is now my dedicated autoguide scope, I just leave it assembled with the camera body attached, so it is always in focus when I am ready to image.

A pic of my setup, notice the setscrew in the body of the finder...
