Just curious how many are using OAG for imaging?

I use OAG (QSI-wsg), one less thing to fiddle with on the hardware side.

I used one a while ago, but never could find guide stars easily enough.

So, I mostly use separate guide scopes. Much easier to use.

Then about a month or so ago, came across a Taurus Tracker. It is much larger and has more adjustments than the earlier OAG's I tried. Makes a big difference in finding guide stars.

The tracking is much better in the three nights I have tried it so far. Really round stars compared to the separate guidescope.

Upcoming will be my first weekend with the OAG and deepsky. I'll report back.

I have been using the onboard guiding on my ST10 at 2500mm and 2900mm. I have rarely had problems finding guide stars.
I preview the imaging field and the guider field with the CCD overlay in Megastar.

Hi Floyd,

I use a Robin Casady Tandem Bar for guiding with a guide scope and it is very effective at guiding my MK 809 at 2000 mm focal length using a Sky 90 guide scope at around 500 mm focal length. I never have an issue finding a star to guide on as well.

Guide Scope. (I guess I'm pretty much a minority). I have never tried to autoguide with an OAG - I did some manual stuff way back when....

I think I would like to go back to an OAG, but I think I would want to do it with a system in front of the filters.
