Kodak versus Sony CCD chips

Hello all,
I hope I'm not posting a ridiculous question, but I'm willing to make a fool of myself in my quest for knowledge. I am fully aware of the difference between "full frame" and "interline" CCDs, beyond that, what are the major differences between these makers chips? My eyes seem to notice a difference in the quality of the pictures produced by Kodak chips (meaning, better). Would/could this be a function of the electronics/processing technique?
Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

The SXV line of Starlight Express cameras don't need to take darks as the dark current is so low. That is one major difference.

Another major difference is the starlight cameras do not use a separate guide chip but has the main imaging chip provide the guiding image so it means exposures take longer for the same picture.

It seems you can pick up an SXV 9 for a lot less than an equivalent Sbig though so they seem to be good bang for buck. I have seen lots of fantastic images from the SXV9. Seems to me to be the equal of the lesser SBigs.

Greg.
